Davao City records 280 new COVID-19 cases, 9 deaths in just two days


DAVAO CITY - Davao City recorded 280 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), 59 recoveries and nine deaths over the weekend. 

Based on two Regional Daily Case Bulletins of the Department of Health (DOH) Davao, Davao City recorded 140 new cases on Saturday, January 16, and another 140 cases on Sunday, January 17.

To date, Davao City has already logged a total of 10,368 COVID-19 cases, with 1,571 remaining as active cases.

The city has recorded 21 recoveries on Saturday and another 38 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,314.

Meanwhile, one death was recorded on Saturday and eight deaths were recorded on Sunday bringing the total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 to 483.

In just two days, a total of 427 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Davao region. The region's total number of COVID-19 has breached the 15,000-mark on Sunday with a total of 15,081 cases of COVID-19 recorded.

The number of remaining active cases in the region is at 2,688. The DOH said 2,002 of these cases were asymptomatic, 505 were mild, 175 were severe, and six were critical.

As of Sunday, Davao region has already recorded a total of 11,784 recoveries and 609 deaths.
