Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Scottie Thompson ended the three-year reign of Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood to capture the Samboy Lim Sportsmanship Award in Sunday’s PBA Special Awards Night.

Thompson got the distinction for the honor over Norwood, Terrafirma’s CJ Perez, NLEX’s Kevin Alas and Phoenix Super LPG’s Calvin Abueva, who was a surprise nominee after showing significant changes following his return from a 16-month suspension.

The Ginebra guard received 2,360 points with Perez finishing second with 2,069.

He became the new holder of the award given to the great high-flyer after Norwood received the Sportsmanship plum from the 2016-17 until the 2019 season.

Another Sportsmanship would have given Norwood his fourth, which would break his tie with Freddie Abuda and Rey Evangelista for most all-time.

It was the first of many awards Ginebra received during the hour-long event.

Stanley Pringle bagged the Best Player of the Conference and joined Japeth Aguilar in the Elite Five while Prince Caperal became the Most Improved Player.
