K-pop boy band GOT7 marked their seventh anniversary since debut today, Jan. 16, with messages for their fans.

GOT7 debuted on Jan. 16, 2014 with a performance on the TV music show “M Countdown” of “Girls Girls Girls,” the main track of their first album “Got It?,” which was released on Jan. 20.

Their seventh anniversary came just less than a week after it was announced that all the members were leaving JYP Entertainment, their agency for seven years, after negotiations for contract renewal failed. The last day of their exclusive contract is on Jan. 19.

Despite the uncertainty, members assured fans that they will continue with the group although they will be joining different agencies.

Fans marked the occasion by trending the hashtag #7YearsWithGOT7 on Twitter and posted messages.

“Thank you guys for 7 years. Many more to come. #7YearsWithIGOT7,” wrote member Mark Tuan.

When the news came out on Jan. 10 that GOT7 had decided not to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment, Mark told fans that GOT7 will continue.

“The past 7 years have been the best years of my life. Nothing is coming to an end, just the beginning. The seven of us are going to continue to bring you guys the best version of us till the end. #GOT7FOREVER,” he posted on Twitter.

Jackson Wang celebrated the anniversary with the message “7 years. Always blessed for everything.”

“#GOT7FOREVER,” JB and Youngjae posted on Instagram along with a photo of the group while BamBam wrote “#IGOT7FOREVER 7years.”

An exclusive report by Korean media outlet Dispatch on Jan. 10 stated that Jinyoung will join actors’ agency BH Entertainment and Yugyeom is in talks with Jay Park’s AOMG label.

Youngjae is reportedly joining Sublime Artist Agency, BamBam is joining MAKEUS Entertainment.

Mark will return to the US and plans to open a personal YouTube channel while Jackson’s global activities will be handled by Team Wang. There was no mention of JB’s potential agency.

The following day on Jan. 11, JYP Entertainment finally confirmed that GOT7 members will be leaving the agency.

“JYP held in-depth discussions with members of GOT7 ahead of their exclusive contract termination on Jan. 19. As a result, the two sides agreed not to proceed with a contract renewal, hoping for a new future,” it said, according to Yonhap News.
