DSWD Facebook account hacked?

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Sunday that it is investigating the supposed breach in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) system after a strange business-related one-liner post – “Why are you doing business together, you idiot?” – suddenly appeared on its official Facebook page early Saturday morning.

"The agency is currently coordinating with its Information and Communications Technology Service to check on the security features of all its ICT infrastructures to ensure that the other networks or links have not been compromised,” it said in a statement.

The purported hacking incident has been reported to the management of Facebook for appropriate action, the DSWD said.

The DSWD "apologized  for an unlikely post on the agency’s official Facebook page, emphasizing that it is already investigating how its social media page was compromised."

“We are grateful to those who immediately called our attention on  the matter so we could properly address it,” it said.

The DSWD assured the public that it will implement more stringent protocols to prevent such incident from happening again. “We also appreciate the public’s understanding as we resolve the matter.”
