President Duterte said he hopes San Miguel Corp. president Ramon S. Ang will be emulated by other business leaders to actively participate in nation-building.
The President thanked his “dear friend” Ang for his “invaluable contributions” to the nation’s progress during the inauguration of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 project in Quezon City Thursday. San Miguel Corp. through Citra Central Expressway Corp. is the governments’ private sector partner in building the major road project.
“On behalf of the Filipino people, I thank you for your invaluable contributions to the government’s efforts to forge a thriving and progressive society,” Duterte said.
Duterte also cited Ang’s initiatives in addressing the challenges arising from the coronavirus pandemic, saying these “speak well of your genuine desire to help our people.”
“For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Duterte told Ang.
“It is my hope that your deep sense of patriotism and social responsibility will serve as an inspiration to other captains of industry to actively participate in our shared task of nation-building,” he added.
Before paying tribute to Ang, the President extended his birthday greeting to the SMC head during the ceremony. Duterte also led the singing of the birthday song for the business magnate.
He also expressed gratitude to San Miguel for its investment in the Skyway project.
“To our private sector partners CITRA and San Miguel, let me thank you for your trust in this administration. Your investment has finally paid off, and the Skyway shall serve as an enduring edifice of the legacy that we will leave behind for future generations of Filipinos,” he said.
