CES 2021: How Technology Made Houses Our Home

It is that time of the year again when we get to have a sneak peak of how technology will change the world this year. The CES or the Consumer Electronics Show is an annual event held in January where businesses, thought leaders, innovators, global brands and start ups gather together to showcase future trends, products and technology.  But unlike previous years because of the pandemic, this year's event, that runs from Jan. 11 - 14, is all digital.

The present pandemic brought by the Covid-19 virus had indeed changed the world and as what Dr. Lisa Su, President and CEO of AMD has said during her virtual keynote speech as she opened CES, "It was a challenging year for everyone; but it was also a year where we experienced first-hand the increasingly important role that technology plays in every aspect of our lives." She continued on saying that despite the challenges, 2020 was one of the most productive year for all those involved in the tech industry.  This was the year we all realized the importance of high performance computing in our daily lives.  She further highlighted how the pace of digital transformation was placed on high gear - be it for home, work or entertainment.

In the year that was (2020 that is), strict health protocols brought about by the pandemic forced us all to conduct all possible activities, be it for school, work, health, etc., all from home.  Suddenly, lifestyles changed and our homes became multi-purpose.  To make our transformed refuge less of a house and more of a home, global brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, just to name a few, showcased meaningful, connected products so we can better function from our homes for a better future.

Samsung Micro LED TV

The CES started strong with global brands revealing their products and how they can further improve our lives while staying home.  There were numerous revelations of awesome displays ranging from Samsung's 110-inch Micro LED and its state-of-the-art line up of lifestyle TVs such as The Sero, The Terrace, The Frame, etc. and its 4K QLED Outdoor TV to LG's reveal of awesome displays like its 2021 OLED evo TV lineup and QNED MiniLED TVs.

LG QNED MiniLED TV

Another home must-have reveals were the AI-powered cleaning and/or disinfecting tools such as LG's CLOiUVC Robot, an autonomous robot that uses UV-C light to disinfect high touch and high traffic areas in your home or office.  For Samsung, they have the JetBot 90 A1+, a new vacuum cleaner armed with a camera, LIDAR and 3D sensors. Quite fascinating are the developments shared in their robotic lineups which include Samsung Bot Care and Samsung Bot Handy that can serve as your handy assistant or household help.

LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator

Now that everyone is home, probably the busiest part of the home is the kitchen.  It would be a dream to have your kitchen equipped with the famous LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator, now bigger, more beautiful, a wider window and now with a voice activated door!  With hands full, no need to put items down.  Simply say, "open the refrigerator door" and voila!

Samsung Bespoke 4-door Refrigerator

A refrigerator that is customizable according to the homemaker's preference is a designer and homemaker's dream. The Samsung Bespoke 4-Door refrigerator would truly fit any kitchen form, design and function as homemakers have the freedom to choose the color and materials and food management that would perfectly blend in their home decor and lifestyle. It is more than just aesthetic, food management is customizable as well with its Flex Zone located at the lower right compartment.

These home appliances are just the tip of the iceberg and with the CES still underway, there is so much more to showcase. With the pandemic, everyone's home has been drastically changed; but thanks to technology like what I've mentioned above, these innovations revealed in CES 2021 made our houses more of a home.
