The municipal government of Cainta has assured free immunization against COVID-19 for all its residents after it entered into an agreement with a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company for the purchase of vaccines.
In his post on Facebook, Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto said the municipal government has signed a confidentiality agreement with AstraZeneca in relation to the possible supply of AZD 1222 or the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
Nieto also announced that they are also in talks with another vaccine manufacturer based in China "to ensure adequate supply for the people of Cainta."
The local chief executive had earlier said that P150 million has been initially allocated for the procurement of the vaccines which will be given for free to Cainta residents.
Cainta has five new COVID-19 cases and 49 active cases as of January 12, based on the record released by the Rizal Provincial Government.
In Taytay, the municipal government is targeting to immunize its residents with an allocation of P300 million for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.
Taytay Mayor George Ricardo Gacula told the Manila Bulletin that the data base of the residents are being updated regularly by the local government to ensure that every resident will benefit from the immunization program of the national and local governments. As of January 12, Taytay has a total of 2,179 confirmed cases, 58 of which are active, 2,039 recoveries, and 82 deaths out of the total of 2,179 confirmed cases.
