Youth group rebuffs Roque’s vaccine remark

The national vaccination program should not be a “take-it-or-leave-it deal” for frontline workers, who the government touted to be the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic, a youth group said on Wednesday.

Dr. RJ Naguit, chairperson of Akbayan Youth, slammed presidential spokesperson Harry Roque for saying that healthcare workers will be deprioritized if they don’t take the China-produced Sinovac.

“We can’t just accept everything especially when it comes to the health of our frontliners. The government said that health workers are the heroes of the pandemic, but why does it feel that doctors, nurses, and other frontliners are in the losing end again?” he asked.

"The government is making the vaccine a take-it-or-leave-it deal for frontline workers. It’s appalling how they threaten frontliners of being deprioritized and made to line up at the bottom of the list should they refuse to take the vaccine.”
