Consumer Electronics Show, or simply CES, is an annual gathering that brings leading tech giants, entrepreneurs, and startups in one tech event on a global stage. CES is an annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) held in January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Winchester, Nevada, United States, the event typically hosts presentations of new products and technologies in the consumer electronics industry.
This year’s CES is held on digital space due to coronavirus pandemic.
CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro and CES Executive Vice President Karen Chupka, along with special guests, kick off CES 2021 this week and will discuss the tech trends shaping our future, how innovation has accelerated in the last year, and how to get the most out of the CES 2021 all-digital experience.
At the opening, Shapiro took a jab at the mob who stormed the US Capitol last week as the whole of America and other countries witnessed the blatant disregard of US President Trump’s supporters to democracy.
“Last week in our home country, the United States, we watched in disbelief as the US Capitol was stormed by a mob. A mob disregarding our democracy, our constitution, and what is proven to be a free and fair election. We know every other democratic nation watched this unfold, sharing our sadness over what was happening, as well as sharing our pride and democracy. Our nation and our democracy are strong. We are moving forward. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be sworn in next week. Democracy wins and there will be a smooth, peaceful transition of power in the United States,” Shapiro tells the audience.
The head of CTA also asked the new policy makers in Washington, D.C. to reflect on how game changing innovations can improve lives, “now and in decades to come.”
