The Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño in Tondo, Manila will hold eight masses on Sunday for the feast of the child Jesus.

Masses will be held at 4 a.m., 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.

According to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño, the masses will also be live-streamed on their Facebook page.

Those who will physically attend the mass are reminded to wear face masks and face shields as a safety and health protocol.

On Tuesday, Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso ordered that no street party, stage show, parade, palarong kalye, and other similar activities shall be allowed during the Feast of Sto Nino in Tondo and Pandacan.

Domagoso in Executive Order No. 02 noted the need to "provide stringent guidelines and regulations" in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19 among the public and its guests on January 16 to 17.

The mayor said that such activities "can be surely an easy medium of COVID-19 spread and transmission thereby endangering the health, well-being and safety" of the general public.

The Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño said they fully understand the reasons behind the decision.

"We are in the time of pandemic. This is why there will be big changes in our celebration and tradition of the feast from the way we are used to," the shrine said in a Facebook post.

"We are concerned with the welfare of everyone. We are one with the government in defeating and preventing the further spread of COVID-19," it added.
