Listening to Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and his wife Bacoor, Cavite Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla recall the tests and trials of life induces feelings of inspiration and hope.
On June 26, 2020, Senator Bong’s father former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. passed away at 93. And two months later, Bong tested positive for the Covid-19 and survived. In 2018, the senator was released from detention four years after his arrest for alleged plunder of legislative funds.
Senator Bong paid tribute to his wife Mayor Lani for taking care of him and their family during those troubled times.
May Covid-19 pa naman ngayon at nandito na ako at kahit paano ay naaalagaan ko na sila,” said Bong during a thanksgiving lunch for the entertainment press in Quezon City recently.
All this time, Bong said that he finds strength in God.
Bong recalled that his Covid-19 symptoms started with sore eyes. And when he started to cough heavily, that’s the time he was rushed to the hospital.
Lani and Bong also said that they will avail of the vaccine for Covid-19 “as long as it is approved by the FDA.”
Baka naman kasi masobrahan ako ng antibodies,” he said.
Bong also revealed the most important lesson he learned so far in politics.
“For now ang pinaka-important lesson na natutunan ko sa politics is huwag kang magde-deklara na tatakbo ka. Noong nagdeclare ako na tatakbo ako, inumpisahan na nilang gibain ako,” he said.
Bong also said that he missed his father so much.
“I’m very close to my father.
Bong said that his father always reminded him to take care of his constituents, family and siblings. His father also told him to protect his image.
He also appealed to netizens to stop bashing at this point in time when many people are suffering.
The senator also vowed to help the poor during this health crisis.
Bong said that he is excited for his television comeback via the series “Agimat ng Agila” on GMA-7.
“I do my own stunts in this TV series. I workout three times a day or almost everyday kapag hindi busy. ‘Agimat ng Agila is an action-fantasy series na mapapanood ninyo once a week. Parang pelikula ang pagkagawa niya.”
While there are trials in the family, the couple said that there’s also happiness like the engagement of their daughter Gianna to Jed Patricio.
“Despite all the winding challenges and uncertainty, there is the promise of a better tomorrow from the Lord. And that’s what He has become to our family. Gianna and Jed, your engagement is an expression of God’s love. It is a blessing and gift that you should always cherish. Always make Him the center of your love and start a life together,” said Bong.
“Honestly I was shocked my child, a little sad because you are still my baby girl, but of course I am there to make you happy.”
