Shabu, marijuana worth P10.2 M seized from Nigerian students in Cavite


GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite -- Three Nigerians were arrested on Monday in separate  buy-bust operations by joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) from the Regional Special Enforcement, La Union, and Pampanga Provincial Offices.

The suspects, identified as Benjamin E. Enemuo and Chiduben P. Nwong, were arrested in Blk.01 Lot 89 Kensington Phase 17 Alden St., Lancaster, Brgy Navarro for illegal drug transactions. 

Seized from them were at least 1,000 grams of  shabu worth P6.8 million. The Nigerians denied any knowledge of the seized drugs. 

In a separate drug operation, Ifeañyi Ofoma was arrested in Blk.26 Lot 17 Kensington Phase 22 Bacao 1. 

Operatives said they were able to buy 500 grams of shabu from Ofoma worth  P3.4 million. 

Found inside the house where Ofoma was caught were 5,000 grams of high grade marijuana and sachets with drug residue. Authorities said the house is where illegal drugs are being repacked for distribution. 

PDEA agent Christopher Basilio said theNigerians were able to ship illegal drugs by putting them inside boxes of masking tapes. Boxes of the tapes were also found in the house where Ofama was arrested. 

The three Nigerians were reportedly getting illegal drugs from a source operating in La Union and Pampanga. They, however, denied their involvement in illegal drugs saying that they are just students.

They will be facing charges for violation of  Sec. 5 in relation to Sec. 26 paragraph B,  Article  II of RA 9165.
