Pangasinan posts record-high COVID cases after the holidays

PANGASINAN — The province of Pangasinan posted a record-high number of COVID-19 cases and three deaths following the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Based on the report of the Pangasinan Provincial Information Office, Dagupan City recorded the highest number of 36 cases as well as Alaminos City, Sta Barbara, and Binmaley.

The oldest patient is an 81-year-old from Alaminos City while the youngest are with ages 1, 4, 11, 15, and a five-month-old baby boy from  Dagupan City.

The infant has no symptoms but was confined at the  hospital.

The COVID-19 fatalities were a 60-year-old male from Calasiao, a 77-year-old female from Dagupan City, and a 59-year-old male from Manaoag.

The city government of Dagupan announced the implementation of a liquor ban which took effect at 6 p.m. of January 4, 2021 through Executive Order No. 1 issued by Mayor Brian Lim.

Lim said the serving and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public, including bars, restaurants, and food plazas are prohibited.(Liezle Basa Inigo)
