The family of flight attendant Christine Angelica “Aica” Dacera is asking the Makati Police to explain why they allowed one of the men already in their custody to leave, family spokesman lawyer Roger Reyes said on Tuesday (January 5).
Colonel Harold Depositar, newly installed Makati Police chief, and investigator Corporal Louie Barlam-Lopez are being asked to explain for letting go one of the men.
“We have a problem with the Makati Police Department because one of the persons that should have been detained and investigated was allowed to be released,” he said during a press conference.
“Doctora Ramos (family friend of the Daceras) was trying to prevent this. We are fortunate to have retained the other two, but one was released. by the Makati City Police Department,” he continued.
The Manila Bulletin tried to get the side of Makati City Police by contacting Depositar, but he did not answer our text messages.
“The Dacera Family wants to know why the Makati Police let one of the men go, while retaining the two others. We are asking Makati Police to explain what happened,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer and spokesperson of the family said one of the men was freed on January 2.
However, Reyes did not disclose the name of the person that the Makati Police allegedly freed.
Aica was reportedly found lifeless in a bathtub in City Garden Gran Hotel in Makati City on January 1. Seen on her body were bruises, believed to be inflicted by her attackers.
The victim graduated cum laude at the UP–Mindanao with a degree in communication arts.
Politicians, according to the family, have sent lawyers to help Aica’s case in order to quickly attain justice.
