Man killed in Monkayo landslide

By Armando Fenequito Jr. DAVAO CITY - A 37-year-old man died in a landslide incident in Barangay Mt. Diwata in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, a place known for mining activities, early morning Tuesday. The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 identified the victim as Abner Abejo, a resident of Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. According to the police report, Mt. Diwata Barangay Chairman Pedro J. Samillano Jr. called the Monkayo Municipal Station regarding incident happened around 4:00 a.m. of February 11, 2020 in Purok 10, Patindol. Abejo was sleeping at the kitchen area of the house owned by Lucy Petallana when the landslide occurred. Petallana's house also was also damaged due to the incident. The personnel of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (BDRRMO) and Municipal DRRMO of Monkayo also conducted ocular inspection and possible search and rescue in the area.
