40-yr-old priest in GenSan succumbs to COVID-19


GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A Catholic priest from this city succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) early Thursday, December 31.

Fr. Archie Bago, who belonged to the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ, died of complications due to COVID-19 after he reportedly got infected with the dreaded virus in Marikina City where he served as a parish priest.

The Passionists of the Philippines announced in its Facebook page the death of Bago.

“We regretfully inform you of the sudden death of our beloved brother Fr. Archie Bago, C.P. He passed away today December 31 around 4:50 a.m.,” the post read.

It said Bago, who was born on October 26, 1980, in Barangay Lagao, this city, professed to become a Passionist on May 2, 2012, and was perpetually professed on July 16, 2016.

He was ordained as a Catholic priest on June 8, 2017.

The Passionists aggrupation asked relatives and friends of Bago to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.
