NORTH COTABATO – Police are set to file criminal charges against a jeep driver who accidentally lost control of the vehicle while traversing a descending highway in Alamada town that resulted in the death of two people including his five-year old daughter and injury of 16 others on Christmas day.
Among the fatalities were five-year old daughter Ilana Joyce Noble and Ellen Mae Bejarin, 22 years old. Noble was the daughter of Robinson Noble, driver of the vehicle, who was also among those injured.
Police Major Sunny Lechonsito, Alamada police chief, said charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and physical injuries will be filed against Noble if evidence shows that he committed lapses that caused the vehicular accident.
Police said Noble was driving an Isuzu jitney type vehicle with some 20 people aboard when it turned turtle while negotiating a descending highway in Barangay Guiling, Alamada town.
The victims, most of whom were relatives of Noble, were on their way home from an excursion in Barangay Rangayen when the tragic accident happened.
Police said Noble lost control of the steering wheel after the brake of the vehicle had reportedly malfunctioned.
