One last surprise for 2020
Toyota continues to offer motorists treats this 2020 with a much-needed update to the Yaris hatchback. Aimed at loyal fans of the hatchback or the casual customer, the new Yaris is designed to be a versatile and fun vehicle.
For 2021, the new Yaris makes a lasting first impression with its new design. It sports an aggressive, redesigned mesh front grille paired with wide-winged headlamps. It’s now fitted with new LED fog lamps across all variants.
Along the side, it features expressive character lines stretching across the body. Glossy piano black accents contrast with the body paint color and chrome finishes on the door handles, adding to the visual interest and sporty feel. It also sports new kicks with its newly-designed 15-inch two-tone machine-finish alloy wheels across all variants.
On the 1.5 S CVT variant, the head lamps have been upgraded to LED and are now paired with new Daytime Running Lights (DRL). Behind, LED line guides outline its rear combination lamps. Finally, the sporty rear spoiler completes its edgy look.
Under the hood is a capable and efficient 1.5L Dual VVT-i engine for the S CVT variant, and a 1.3L Dual VVT-i engine for the E CVT variant. Both are paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Drivers can take control with paddle shifters (1.5 S CVT) behind the steering wheel. This variant also offers Eco and Sport Drive Modes for a more customized drive.
The updates continue into the cabin, capable of seating five passengers and their cargo. Navigating and listening to music is easy with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now standard across all variants. Adjust it all without ever taking your hands off the steering wheel with the built-in media control buttons.
Buyers of the 1.5 S CVT variant get additional perks like Smart Entry and a Push Start System. This variant also comes in new synthetic leather seats and an immersive six-speaker system.
Safety-wise, the Yaris has passengers covered in front and all sides by seven SRS airbags equipped as standard on all Yaris variants. It also comes with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to prevent a loss of control and maintain stability. There’s also Hill-Start Assist to prevent it from rolling backward on steep inclines. The 1.5 S CVT variant also comes with automated safety features like Speed-Sensing Door Locks.
“We’ve got one last exciting model this year that we’re sure many Filipinos will enjoy,” said Elijah Marcial, Vice President of Marketing Services at TMP. “The Yaris appeals to many married professionals in their mid to late 30s looking for a modern fun-to-drive vehicle that offers the great cargo space a hatchback offers.
