Army, PNP Caraga on full alert ahead of CPP Anniversary

BUTUAN CITY – All field units of the Army’s Fourth Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) and Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region remained on full alert for the Yuletide season and the upcoming anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CCP) on December 26.

Maj. Gen. Andres C. Centino, commanding general of the Army’s Northeastern and Northern Mindanao 4th ID, and PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. placed all their respective personnel in tightened security alert to thwart possible threats posed by the Communist New People’s Army (NPA).

According to 402nd  Brigade Civil Military Operations (CMO) Officer Maj. Francisco P. Garello, jr., all battalion and company commanders and all elements under the operation control (Opcon) of 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, which is led by commanding general Brig. Gen. Maurito L. Licudine, were already in their respective positioned to avert any terroristic activities pose by the Communist terrorists.

Meanwhile, all mobile forces, police stations, and national support units stationed in Caraga region have beefed up the implementation of law enforcement operations, as well as intelligence monitoring, to secure vital installations and economic key points against any rebel atrocity.   

“We intensified the conduct of checkpoint/chokepoint along major thoroughfares, and patrol operations in areas of public convergence,” Caramat said. 

“We encourage also the support of the public by providing us relevant information on any activity of the enemies of state,” the region’s top cop underscored.

He added that the CPP anniversary was commonly accompanied by violence that manifests the true color of the leftist group as anti-peace and prosperity. 

On the other hand, the PRO 13 will also arrest individuals involved in the illegal manufacture, sale and use of prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics as part of the government’s effort to save lives and limbs during Yuletide season.
