3 die in Sorsogon road mishap

CAMP OLA, Albay – Three persons were killed in a road accident in Barangay Milagrosa, Castilla town, Sorsogon province on Friday morning.

Ma. Theresa Peterson and Jeriel Mirandilla, including their driver Melvin Valenson Dolot, all residents of Sorsogon City, died when the Hyundai Reina they were riding collided with an approaching sports utlitiy vehicle.

According to Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) Spokesperson Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Dolot lost control of the wheel while they were travelling on a portion of the highway that was rendered slippery because of the continuous rainfall.

Calubaquib said the car swerved to the opposite lane, and took a spin, before colliding with an approaching Toyota Fortuner that was being driven by Jonathan Peralta, a resident of Legazpi City, Albay.

Calubaquib said that Hyundai Reina was enroute from Sorsogon City proper to Legazpi City when the accident happened.

She also disclosed that Peterson, Mirandilla and Dolot were brought to the Castilla District Hospital where they were declared dead on-arrival by the attending physician.

Calubaquib also said Peralta was brought to the Estevez Hospital in Legazpi City for treatment.

Investigation regarding the incident was still ongoing as of presstime.
