Imagine diving underwater without a breathing apparatus, simply wearing swimming shorts, a pair of goggles, and a pair of flippers.

Catching your breath yet?

Filipino surfing champion Philmar Alipayo just did what seems to be an impossible task for normal people without durable lungs after diving 14 meters deep underwater.

Looking calm and composed, Alipayo posted on Instagram Wednesday a series of black and white photos freediving at the Solitude Acacia Resort in Batangas that sparked a buzz on social media.

"Dove 14 meters under esterday," Alipayo wrote, gaining more than 20,000 likes as of this writing.

The Siargao-native surfer proved that he was born to be one with the waters after making history in 2017 by winning the 19th Siargao National Surfing Cup.

Alipayo, the partner of actress Andi Eigenmann, bested 185 surfers including former national and international champion Piso Alcala in a 25-minute man-on-man finals duel in 2-3 feet waves at the world-famous Cloud 9.

Alcala eventually bagged the silver medal while previous champion John Mark Tokong and Jay-R Esquivel of La Union shared third place.

Alipayo and Eigenmann continue to enjoy the island life amid the quarantine, spending time surfing, fishing, spearfishing and enjoying Siargao's fresh delicacies with daughters Ellie and Lilo.

The Siargao-based couple is expecting baby number three after Eigenmann's pregnancy last August.
