Karen Davila to resort owner: 'Shame on you!'

Broadcast journalist Karen Davila couldn't help but share an incident at a certain resort in Cebu that sparked outrage among families living with autism.

In a series of Tweets, the 50-year-old newsreader and television presenter called out a certain "resident shareholder" of the resort and spa.

"Shame on you Manny Gonzales of Plantation Bay for trying to school a parent of a child with autism on what the symptoms are. You are a disgrace to the tourism industry. Your words & heartlessness do not belong in the world today that seeks to include all persons with needs," she wrote.

The Autism Society Philippines was also among the individuals and groups that called out the incident.

Recall that in there, a parent of a child with autism shared her "discriminating" experience in the resort through an American online travel company that operates a website and mobile app with user-generated content and a comparison shopping website. However, the "resident shareholder" replied back -- in a now-deleted post -- that "uncontrolled shouting is not a symptom of autism," among others.

Then Karen uploaded the apology letter of the "resident shareholder" but she firmly declared that she "stand up" for all parents of kids with special needs.

"I understand our responsibility to manage the behaviour of our children, no parent deserves to be treated in this manner. A non apology apology just hurts even more," she said.

In September, Karen expressed gratitude when her son, David, who has been diagnosed with autism, immediately went well after experiencing a full-blown seizure.

In fact, she thanked actor-singer Matteo Guidicelli for extending a helping hand during that emergency.
