ILOILO CITY—The Department of Health (DOH-6) has reported that there are only 1,812 active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Western Visayas region.
This is after DOH-6’s December 8 bulletin indicated that there were only 49 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded.
The highest number of active COVID-19 cases was recorded in Negros Occidental province with 1,009, followed by Iloilo province with 237 active cases.
There were also 200 active COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City, 154 in Iloilo City, 216 in Aklan, 70 in Capiz province, 13 in Guimaras province, and three in Antique province.
More than 82.67 percent of the region’s active COVID-19 cases were asymptomatic, 12.5 percent were mild, and 4.69 percent were severe.
DOH-6 also recorded 50 new recoveries, bringing the number of recoveries region-wide to 17,979.
As of December 8, Western Visayas region had a total number of 20,380 cases of COVID-19 since March when the pandemic broke.
