1 new COVID-19 case, 5 recoveries among overseas Filipinos— DFA


One new confirmed case of the coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), five recoveries and no fatality among overseas Filipinos was reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, December 5.

That brings the total cases of COVID-19 among overseas Filipinos to 11,671; while the total number of recoveries is 7,564 or more than half of the recorded confirmed cases, the DFA reported. 

The death toll remains at 846 while active cases are 3,261.

According to the DFA, the reports on the new cases and recoveries came from the Asia and the Pacific region.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries and fatalities saw a slight increase to 64.81 percent and 7.25 percent respectively,” the department said.

“Meanwhile, those under treatment decreased to 27.94 percent,” it added.

The latest figure showed that most cases among Filipinos were reported in the Middle East/Africa region with 7,544 cases with 4,657 recoveries, and 553 deaths. A total of 2,334 of them are still undergoing treatment.

The Asia Pacific Region has 1,947 cases, 1,377 of them have already recovered, while nine succumbed to the illness. A total of 561 patients are undergoing treatment.

Europe has 1,413 cases with 1,010 recoveries, and 96 deaths. It has 307 active cases.

The Americas have 767 cases, 520 recoveries, and 188 deaths. A total of 59 patients are still undergoing treatment.
