WATCH: Fans cry 'sayang' as Liza Soberano's 'Darna' training video trends online

"The best Darna we never had." This is how some netizens described young star Liza Soberano.

Recently, an old video of the 22-year-old actress doing training for the role made waves on social media.

Most of those who have seen it expressed disappointment that it didn't push through.

Among those who commented on the video is actor Paolo Paraiso.

He said: "Iba talaga tingin. Galing. (rock on emoji)."

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Erwin Tagle -- who uploaded the viral video on his Instagram account -- replied back with: "@paoloparaiso parang may heat vision tagos sayo pag tumingin."

Meanwhile, others expressed hope Liza would go on to do an action movie even if it's not actually "Darna."

Recall that the project was first announced in 2014 with Angel Locsin in the lead and Erik Matti as director.

But Angel had to deal with a back injury along the way, eventually leading to her dropping out of the project in 2015.

Then she was replaced by Liza in 2017.

A year later, Erik backed out of the project citing "artistic differences with ABS-CBN." He was quickly replaced by Jerrold Tarog.

In April 2019, ABS-CBN released a press statement announcing Liza had left the project due to a "finger injury."

Some months later Jane De Leon was named her successor.

Last August, it was announced that “Darna” is not pushing through due to the ongoing pandemic.
