CEBU CITY — A policeman was gunned down while driving a motorcycle in Barangay Dumlog, Toledo City, western Cebu.
Killed on the spot was Police Staff/Sgt. Gerfil Geolina, 44.
Lt. Col. Junnel Caadlawon, chief of the Toledo Police, said Geolina was heading home to Barangay Das when he was waylaid by two motorcycle-riding assailants past 9 a.m. Thursday.
Geolina came from Asturias town where he was assigned as a member of the alert team of the town police.
Police Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, chief of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas, said he has instructed the Cebu Provincial Police Office “to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Montejo said a background check on the victim will be conducted to determine the motive or identify the perpetrators involved in the attack.
