Subpoena officer in Negros Oriental shot dead


BACOLOD CITY - A local court employee was gunned down by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle in Barangay Poblacion, Tayasan, Negros Oriental on Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Roger Serna, 57. He was a subpoena officer of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) in the towns of Tayasan and Jimalalud.

According to a report from Chief Master Sgt. Edelberto Euroba III, Negros Oriental police public information officer, the victim was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he was tailed by the assailants, whose faces were covered with helmets.

As the victim slowed down on a speed bump, the perpetrators shot him several times and fled.

The victim sustained several gunshot wounds that caused his immediate death.

Recovered by the police from the scene were six cartridges of .45 caliber, and a deformed slug. 

Police are looking into the motive behind the killing.
