The latest of this “Cayetano’s legacy,” as announced by Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A. Dolor is the P50-million sports complex which had its groundbreaking recently in the town of Naujan which will be constructed beside the new modern municipal building in Barangay Santiago.

Early last month, a P60-million heritage museum which Gov. Dolor dubbed as ex-Speaker Cayetano’s “gift to the people of Oriental Mindoro” was launched in Calapan City as the province’s show window of its unique history and rich culture.

Dolor said the sports complex in Naujan will be complemented by a P30-million grandstand the fund of which came from the office of Senator Sonny Angara and P10-million bleachers from Senator Migz Zubiri.

“This sports complex can accommodate provincial, regional, and even national sports events and will definitely put the province in the tourism and development map of the country,” Dolor said in his speech in the groundbreaking rites last Friday with Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi as special guest.

Naujan Mayor Mark Marcos said he has approved a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Bayan donating a five-hectare land where the sports complex will be built.

The heritage museum complex is now being constructed in the former site of the old capitol adjacent to the Sto. Nino Cathedral in downtown Calapan.
