ENHYPEN’s ‘Border: Day One’ debuts at No. 1, becomes 3rd best-selling album in November

Rookie K-pop idol group ENHYPEN recorded impressive achievements with their debut album “Border: Day One.”

ENHYPEN, composed of Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki, debuted on Nov. 30, backed by the six-track mini-album containing the main song “Given-Taken.”

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Border: Day One” ranked No. 1 on the daily album chart for Nov. 30 with 229,991 copies sold followed by EXO member Kai’s debut solo album “Kai” with 167,249 copies, GOT7’s new album “Breath of Love: Last Piece” with 127,336 copies and NCT’s “NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2” Arrival Version with 124,554 copies, all released on the same day.

With ENHYPEN’s 229,991 copies as first-day sales for their debut album, they ranked third on Hanteo Chart’s monthly chart for November, behind their seniors, BTS, whose “BE (Deluxe Edition)” ranked first with 2.3 million copies sold and “Skool Luv Affair” ranked second with 406,219 copies sold for the month.

Monsta X’s “Fatal Love” is fourth with 200,500 copies sold while rookie boy band Treasure’s “The First Step: Chapter Three” is in fifth place with 179,494 copies.

On YouTube, ENHYPEN’s music video for “Given-Taken” has garnered 7.77 million views in 17 hours since it was released on Nov. 30.

On iTunes, “Border: Day One” became No. 1 in Japan and Lithuania, No. 2 in Brunei, Romania and Russia, and No. 3 in countries and regions including the US, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Brazil and Indonesia, according to Kworb.

During ENHYPEN’s online media showcase on Nov. 30, which Manila Bulletin covered, Jake said one of their goals is to win the rookie award.

“We want to debut with good music and performance and return the love of our fans. Our other goal is to win the new artist award,” he said.

Sunghoon said, “We feel very proud and happy when people call us the global fan-made group. We will be more responsible and work hard to return the love of our fans.”
