Caraga region logs 39 new COVID-19 cases


BUTUAN CITY - Cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Northeastern Mindanao or the Caraga region continues to rise with 39 new cases recorded, and one additional death.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), 13 new cases were recorded in the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), seven each in Surigao del Sur and Butuan City, five in Surigao City, four in Agusan del Norte, and three in Agusan del Sur.

Caraga region now has a total of 3,730 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 464 active cases and 170 deaths.

The DOH-CHD also reported on Sunday that Caraga region has also recorded 3,096 recoveries.

According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said 12 have mild symptoms and 27 are asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 18 were all local transmission cases, 18 with no history of travel to an area with known local transmission  or exposure to COVID-19, and three with travel history from an area with local transmission.

Among those infected, 20 were male, 19 were female, with the youngest at 10-years old and the oldest at 69-years-old.
