A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Masbate early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The earthquake, which occurred at 4:23 a.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 11 kilometers southeast of Cataingan, Masbate.
The quake had a depth of 16 km, with the following registered intensities: Intenisty III - Masbate City; Intensity II - Irosin and Magallanes, Sorsogon
The quake was also felt under the following instrumental intensities:
Intensity III - Masbate City; Intensity II - Legaspi City; Intensity I - Naval, Biliran; Palo, Leyte; Roxas City
No damage and aftershocks are expected from the tremor.
