16 more Filipinos abroad contracted COVID-19


Sixteen more Filipinos abroad have contracted the new coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of infections to 11,692.

As of Nov. 30, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) also reported two fatalities among Filipinos abroad that pushed the death toll to 847.

"On this last day of November, the DFA reports no new recoveries from COVID-19 among our nationals abroad. Meanwhile, 16 new confirmed cases and 2 new fatalities were recorded in Europe and in the Middle East and Africa," the DFA statement read.

"The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amid the pandemic," it added.

Of the COVID cases among Filipinos abroad, 7,497 have recovered while 3,348 are undergoing treatment. 

The bulk of the COVID cases was reported in the Middle East and Africa with 7,544, followed by Asia Pacific with 1,926 cases; Europe with 1,383 cases, and the Americas, 839 cases.

At home, the country’s cases of coronavirus have reached 431,630 with 398,658 recoveries and 8,392 deaths.
