PNP-IAS Western Visayas resolves 51 administrative cases against cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service (IAS) in Western Visayas has recorded a 94.4-percent administrative case solution efficiency since January this year that included the immediate dismissal of four policemen.

Col. Roger James Brillantes, director of the Western Visayas IAS, said 51 of the 54 cases they handled have been resolved as part of their compliance with orders to reduce or remove the backlog cases against policemen in the region.

IAS Director General Alfegar Triambulo has been reminding the regional IAS offices to promptly resolve all administrative cases as a way of contributing to the aggressive internal cleansing program of the PNP.

Brillantes said the 54 cases they handled this year involved 99 policemen from Western Visayas. He said 83 of them were cleared of the charges, eight were suspended, while three others were demoted.

“Disputes must be disposed of quickly for the benefit of the public as well as of the claimant to a more accessible administration of social justice,” said Brillantes.

Aside from fast adjudication of cases, the official said they also initiated lectures and training programs on performance management, prosecution and summary hearing.
