17 of San Juan’s 21 barangays are now ‘drug-free’- Zamora

Of the 21 barangays in San Juan City, 17 have been declared drug-free.

Mayor Francis Zamora said Barangay Pedro Cruz is the latest to be given the Certificate of Drug-free Barangay by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“Declared drug-free na po ang ating Barangay Pedro Cruz. Kaya 17 out of 21 barangays ng San Juan ay drug free na (Barangay Pedro Cruz has been declared drug-free. So 17 out of 21 barangays in San Juan are now drug-free),” Zamora said.

“Apat na lamang pong barangay at malapit na pong magiging drug-free na ang buong San Juan (There are only four remaining barangays and the whole of San Juan will soon be drug-free),” he added.

Despite the ongoing threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the mayor said the local government did not stop its crackdown on illegal drugs in San Juan.

“Sa simula pa lamang ng ating administrasyon maging sa panahon ng pandemya ay hindi tayo tumitigil sa ating laban sa droga (Since the start of this administration, even during the pandemic, we did not stop our fight against drugs),” he said.

Zamora sits as chairman of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), while Vice Mayor Warren Villa is vice-chairman.
