Malacañang is optimistic that newly appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Presiding Justice Remedios Salazar Fernando would perform her job with excellence and integrity.
Fernando has been appointed CA presiding justice by President Duterte, according to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque. The appointment paper was signed on Nov. 24.
"We are confident that Presiding Justice Fernando would serve the CA with the same judicial excellence, dedication and integrity she demonstrated in her years of service at the CA," Roque said in a statement.
"Good luck and we wish her all the best in her future undertakings," he added.
Prior to her appointment, Fernando served as CA Associate Justice. She temporally led the appellate court when then presiding justice Romeo Barza retired last year.
Fernando, a law graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University, previously served as a trial court judge in Pampanga. She was also named commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Fernando was appointed to the CA in 1999.
