GMA First Vice President for Program Management Jose Mari R. Abacan was once again part of the esteemed panel of jurors in the Final Round of Judging for the Comedy category at the 48th International Emmy Awards held last November 23.

Abacan, with his vast expertise in TV programming, was tapped by the Academy’s Emmy Committee to recognize excellence in the most outstanding television programs produced around the world where he was granted online access to the nominated programs.

Prior to this year’s competition, Abacan has also represented the Network and the country as a juror in several categories of the prestigious international award-giving body since 2007.

Abacan was instrumental in GMA becoming the pioneer in introducing Koreanovelas, Lakorn, Turkish and Indian series in the country. He also leads and oversees all program acquisition initiatives from foreign producers.

Considered as the Oscars of the TV industry, the International Emmy Awards is an annual event organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. It is a membership-based organization of leading media and entertainment figures from all sectors of television including Internet, mobile, and technology.
