PSC to send help to national athletes affected by 'Ulysses'

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is sending financial aid to national team members affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

In a statement, the government sports agency said it has coordinated with national sports associations (NSA) regarding the status of their athletes during the typhoon.

Among the reports they have received came from the Philippine Canoe Kayak-Dragonboat Federation, whose athletes and coaches are residing near the floodways in Rizal.

So far, the PSC has counted 57 athletes and coaches from nine sports who have evacuated or lost their homes due to the typhoon.

PSC chairman Butch Ramirez said they are expediting the process of releasing the financial support and monitoring the conditions of all athletes and coaches.

“It might not be substantial, but we will do our best we can to help them,” Ramirez said.

PSC Executive Director Atty Guillermo Iroy Jr also said they are just waiting for the final report from the NSA Affairs to finalize everything.
