The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has partnered with the Quezon City government for the provision of additional public bus transport services within the city.
A memorandum of agreement was signed between the LTFRB and the Quezon City government on Nov. 20, led by LTFRB OIC Zona Russet Tamayo and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte for the implementation of the City’s Bus Augmentation Program.
Under the MOA, the Quezon City government has proposed eight routes for public utility buses (PUBs), which will undergo thorough evaluation by the LTFRB.
The eight proposed routes are: Quezon City Hall to Cubao P. Tuazon cor. Gen. Romulo Ave. and vice versa; Quezon City Hall to Litex and vice versa; Welcome Rotonda to Aurora Katipunan and vice versa; Quezon City Hall to General Luis via SB Road and vice versa; Quezon City Hall to Mindanao Ave. (Quirino Highway) and vice versa; Quezon City Hall to LRT 2 Gilmore and vice versa; Quezon City Hall to E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave cor. Ortigas Ave. and vice versa; and Quezon City Hall to LRT 1 Roosevelt to Quezon City.
These PUB routes are expected to be formally operational in December 2020.
The signing was also witnessed by Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor, Quezon City Administrator Michael Alimurung, LTFRB Technical Division Chief Joel Bolano, LTFRB Legal OIC Mark Cofino, and Assistant City Administrator Alberto Kimpo.
