The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) and long-time brand partner MILO are launching an online exercise challenge for kids to keep them in shape during the pandemic.
PATAFA chief Philip Juico said the program, which will run for 12 weeks starting Monday, aims to encourage parents to help their children continue to live an active lifestyle despite the restrictions brought by the new normal.
“It is a crucial program because many of our children are restricted outdoors. Amidst the limitation, it is vital to be committed to our journey for grassroots development,” Juico said.
Lester Castillo, Assistant Vice President of Nestle Philippines-MILO, echoed the same sentiment and added the project is a tribute to the brand’s interest in youth development.
“By leveraging on technology, we’re able to drive in our pursuit of our goal on national sports development in kid’s athletics while being safe indoors. It’s a way to have children return to play even while at home,” Castillo said.
Participants from three age categories – 10-, 12- and 15-under – will be asked to send videos of them performing eight exercises within a specific period of time.
Similar to circuit training, examples of the exercises are demonstrated by Filipino Southeast Asian Games gold medalists and can be seen on PATAFA and MILO’s social media accounts.
The exercises are square jumps (demonstrated by Christine Hallasgo), running high knees (Kristina Knott), sit up with modified throw (William Morrison), star jumps (Natalie Uy), front lunge twist (Clinton Bautista), modified pushups (Aries Toledo), sumo squat jumps (Melvin Calano) and quick feet (Sarah Dequinan).

Weekly winners will compete in a live contest via Zoom on Feb. 26, 2021.
