Quezon City allocates P13.9B for social welfare, services in 2021 budget


The Quezon City government is allocating P13.9 billion to social welfare and services programs of its P28.7 billion budget for 2021.

Mayor Joy Belmonte, in a statement, explained that the budget allocation is rooted in the city's objective to provide responsive and efficient social services for all residents, especially as the country continues to address the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

"The need for social services support during these times is expected to remain high, as many of our citizens struggle against the pandemic and under the new normal," Belmonte said.

The local government has earmarked P10.2 billion for general public services, P3.4 billion for economic services, and P1.2 billion for the legislative branch.
