Pasay night market starts Nov. 27 amid pandemic

A joint task force from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Pasay City government conducted clearing operation Friday (Nov. 20) along the stretch of Taft Avenue in preparation for a night market that will begin on Nov. 27.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano who personally supervised the clearing operations said the night market would be the first of its kind allowed by the MMDA during general community quarantine.

The night market -- one of the activities of the city in celebration of the city’s  157th founding anniversary on Dec. 2 -- will run the whole Christmas season.

“The night market that will begin on Nov. 27 will strictly observe stringent health protocols that include social distancing, body temperature checks, hand sanitation as well as designated entry and exit points,” Rubiano said.

Displaced vendors would be allowed to sell their wares from 5p.m. along the service road of Roxas Boulevard until midnight.

At least 130 tents would be set up in the area.
