The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed another set of tax evasion charges against eight companies and one individual taxpayer for alleged refusal to settle old delinquent accounts totaling to more than P692 million.
Manila Revenue Regional Director Jethro Sabariaga said separate criminal complaints were filed against the respondents for repeatedly ignoring assessment and collection notices sent to them.
This brought to 732 the number of tax evasion cases filed by the administration of BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay under the Run-After-Tax-Evaders (RATE) program.
Sabariaga identified the accused as Almatel Construction, Best Electrical Automation Control, Heleina International, New Community Hardware, F and H Hard Earned, Jaya Multi-Sales, Pinic International, and Norwegian Star.
The lone individual taxpayer accused was Richard Neil Reyes of Reyes Son Store.
The president and other key officials of the corporations were also included in the criminal charges of non-payment of tax debts incurred in 2016 and prior years.
