Number of COVID-19 recoveries in Western Visayas rises to 15,793


ILOILO CITY – There are now 15,793 people who have recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Western Visayas region, according to the Department of Health in Region 6 (DOH-6).

This was after DOH-6 disclosed, in its November 17 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bulletin, that there were 207 new recoveries.

Bacolod City posted the highest number of recoveries with 4,638. It was followed by

Iloilo City with 3,902 recoveries.

Negros Occidental province had 3,876 recoveries, Iloilo province, 2,046; Capiz, 887 recoveries; Guimaras, 174; Aklan, 155, and Antique, 70.   

Western Visayas region also recorded 78 new cases, as of November 17, that brought the number of active COVID-19 cases to 2,271. 

DOH-6 data revealed that the majority of the active COVID-19 cases were asymptomatic at 80.16 percent, mild cases, 14.88 percent; and severe, 4.62 percent.

There were also five new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total fatalities to 488 across the region.

As of November 17, Western Visayas region has a total of 18,552 cases of COVID-19 since end of March.
