Negros Occidental to send P4M cash assistance to typhoon-hit provinces

BACOLOD CITY - The provincial government of Negros Occidental will be sending cash assistance amounting to P4 million to four provinces that were badly hit by the series of typhoons.

It was approved during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) meeting held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall on Tuesday, presided by PDRRMC chairperson Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

The financial assistance will be given to the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Cagayan, and Isabela, following massive floods that caused widespread damage to many villages there due to typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

Each of the affected province will receive P1 million from the province, in coordination with their respective local government units (LGUs).

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said it was the provincial government’s response to the call for help of LGUs in Luzon that suffered most in the series of recent typhoons.

“It is a sad thing to witness at this time of the pandemic,” Diaz said.

"We hope to assist them,” Diaz said, adding that “in time of need, we should be available to assist other LGUs which were devastated”.
