'Kalel, 15' to stream on Netflix


"Kalel, 15," a Filipino drama that has won multiple awards including Best Director at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the 43rd Gawad Urian, Best Actor at the Asian Film Festival, Best Actor at the 43rd Gawad Urian, and Best Editing at the 59th Asia Pacific Film Festival, will stream on Netflix starting Dec. 9.

It follows the story of Kalel, the son of a priest who contracts HIV. The film delves into the stigma surrounding HIV, carelessness of the youth, and religion.

Directed and written by Jun Robles Lana, the film stars Elijah Canlas, Elora Españo, and Eddie Garcia, Jaclyn Jose, Cedrick Juan, Gabby Padilla, Sue Prado, Dylan Ray Talon, and Lou Veloso.
