De los Santos nails 22nd gold

Three days, three gold medals.

World No. 1 James De los Santos accomplished this on his way to his 22nd gold medal as he ruled the Athletes E-Tournament Cash Award Series 2 e-kata individual senior’s male category.

Fresh from winning two gold medals over the weekend for his 20th and 21st championship, De los Santos defeated Matias Moreno Domont of Switzerland in the final, 25.4-24.6.

“I’m quite happy with my 22nd gold,” said the 30-year-old De los Santos Tuesday.

“This will even add more points to widen the gap in the virtual e-kata world rankings. There are more tournaments for me to look forward to this month, as well as the upcoming Christmas season.”

“This will keep me even more motivated,” added De los Santos, who has moved a month ago on top of the world rankings, dislodging Eduardo Garcia of Portugal, who is now at second spot.

Over the weekend, De los Santos won two gold medals.

He won the NOX Dojo Markham City Open last Saturday, and the Okinawa E-Tournament World Series 2 last Sunday as results were posted in the online page of World Karate Federation.

De los Santos triumphed against Moreno in the final of the NOX Dojo, 25.3-24.2, for his 20th gold medal, and ruled the second leg of the Okinawa E-Tournament with a win against Alfredo Bustamante of the USA, 24.8-24.48.
