The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday said it received no new updates on confirmed COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) cases, recoveries, and fatalities among Filipino nationals abroad.

To date, the total number of confirmed cases is at 11,522, total fatalities at 830, and total recoveries at 7,461

Over the weekend, the DFA facilitated several international flights ferrying hundreds of distressed and stranded overseas Filipinos from Saudi Arabia (783), those traveling or transiting from Amsterdam (279), Japan (160), and the United Arab Emirates (712).

“The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos who are affected by the pandemic and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has called on its fellow member-states within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to expedite the effective use of the soon-to-be operationalized COVID-19 ASEAN Response Fund and encouraged the regional bloc’s external partners to support and contribute to the fund.
