President Duterte has created an inter-agency task force that will streamline the rehabilitation process in areas affected by the recent typhoons.

Duterte made the statement as more people become affected by Typhoon Ulysses, especially with the recent flooding in Cagayan Valley.

In a public address Saturday afternoon, the President said that he created the task force so the government’s assistance can reach the people faster and so the rehabilitation of affected areas can be expedited.

“I directed them to streamline, para madali ang rehabilitation efforts [in areas] affected by the typhoon (so the rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by the typhoon can be faster),” he said.

“Gusto ko yung task force na magbigay kaagad ng relief assistance sa affected (I want the task force to be able to give the relief assistance to those who are affected the soonest time possible),” he added.

President Duterte said the task force will be working on a time frame and reminded them to do everything they can within the deadline. He, however, did not specify the timeline.

“Ewan ko kung ano ang gawin ninyo, ang Task Force, but kung ano man ‘yan, gawain ninyo at ako na ang bahala (I don’t know what you are going to do but whatever it is, just do it. I will take care of it),” he said.

“Pwede lahat, gawain na lang ninyo at itong lahat ng ito (Everything is allowed. Just do everything you can),” he added.

The President likewise assured those affected by Typhoon Ulysses and its aftermath that help is on the way.

“Walang maraming istorya, salita. May mga tao na nangangailangan ng tulong. Yung iba namamatay (There will be less talk. There are people who need help. Some are already dying),” he said.

“Kaya ang gobyerno papasok sa lalong madaling panahon gamit lahat yung mga assets, mga ari-arian ng gobyerno at gagamitin doon sa lugar ninyo (That is why the government will do everything to get there on time. We will use all assets available),” he added.

‘We can make it’

Meanwhile, President Duterte assured those affected by the typhoon that they will be able to overcome the recent tragedy.

“Kaya natin ito. Ilang pahirap na ng panahon (We can overcome this. We’ve been through this many times already),” he said.

“Babangon din tayo. Mahirap pero alam mo naman ang Pilipino, alam niyang tumindig uli (We will raise up. It will not be easy but you know how Filipinos are. We can stand up again),” he added.
