AWOL cop arrested for robbery


Two men, including a former police officer who went on absence without leave (AWOL), were arrested for robbing a couple in Sta. Cruz, Manila Tuesday night.

Police identified the victims as Eufrecina Malasig, 37, jobless and Giovani Sinnung, 38, chef; both residents of Ugong, Valenzuela City.

Arrested were Felizardo Pablico, 49, jobless, resident of Tondo, Manila and Reynaldo Nuque Jr., 40, former police officer, resident of Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City.

Investigation showed that the motorcycle-riding suspects robbed the couple at gunpoint along Aurora Boulevard corner Rizal Avenue Street in Manila at around 10 p.m.

After Pablico and Nuque carted away the victims' cash and gadget, the victims sought assistance from the police.

The suspects were arrested after police conducted Oplan Sita in the said area.

Retrieved from the suspects were a black Samsung Galaxy A11 phone, P2,000 cash, and the victims' identification cards and ATMs.

Also recovered were two caliber .38 revolvers and a white Yamaha motorcycle.

The suspects are now under police custody and will be facing charges robbery (hold-up) and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
