“I will refer it to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security immediately,” Guevarra, who is chairman of this task force, told reporters.

Police said that local radio commentator Virgilio Maganes was gunned down while entering his home in Barangay San Blas in Villasis, Pangasinan.

Maganes was previously attacked in 2016 during an ambush but managed to survive

“The PTFoMS will probably make an initial determination if the incident was work-related,” Guevarra said.

“If affirmative, the investigating team will try to find out if it was connected to the 2016 incident,” he added.

Police said there were two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle who killed the victim.

Maganes sustained six gunshot wounds from the suspects and died on the spot.
